11 road projects affecting travel to northeast corridor

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Residents in the University area could see a lot more detours and delays in the coming months.

Eleven road projects in that area are either currently underway or will be in the next few months.

Some of those include the Blue Line Extension project, and completing the Interstate 485 loop.

North Carolina Department of Transportation, the city of Charlotte and Charlotte Area Transit System are coordinating their construction schedules to minimize the impact.

"It is an investment in the future because it's going to help with safety, it's going to help with mobility, it's going to help you go to your job more effectively," said Jen Thompson with NCDOT.

Thompson said the projects provide more direct connection along the northeast corridor.

The following list of projects impact the northeast corridor:

 I-85
