18 golf carts stolen from SC golf course

MANNING, S.C. — (AP) Eighteen golf carts have been stolen from a Manning golf course.

Shannon Greens Golf Club Course Manager Dave Burton told The Sumter Item that he noticed the carts were gone from the shed where they are stored on Feb. 9. They have not been found.

Burton says the thieves took 18 of the 51 carts owned by the golf course and left the carts owned by members alone.

Burton says the club has had carts taken by joyriders before, but never a theft of this magnitude. He says the shed was locked when he arrived and he doesn't know if the thieves picked the lock or had a key.

Burton says investigators have not told him if they have any leads.
