2 men killed after truck hits railroad tracks, flips in Chester County

CHESTER COUNTY, S.C. — Two men were killed at about 9 p.m. Tuesday in a wreck in Chester County.

The crash happened on York Street near Chester Homes.

Officials said 40-year-old Jamal Perkins and 46-year-old Antonio Worthy were speeding when the truck they were in hit railroad tracks, went airborne and overturned, throwing them from the truck.

"Whoever's family it is, I'm praying for y'all, and I hope y'all get through it," witness Donald Browning said.

The coroner said one of the men died at the scene and the other died at a hospital.

"I walked down here and seen the wreck,” Browning said. “One person was dead, and one person died at the hospital."

A photo of a 1960s model Chevrolet truck was posted on Worthy’s Facebook page. He bought it less than three weeks prior to the crash.

Perkins cousin, Jackie Thomas, lives two doors down from the crash and saw it coming home from work.

"People been in your life like that, and they just lose their (lives) in a matter of seconds," Thomas said.

Police said the impact of the crash was so strong that all the engine fluids were inside the truck.
