CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two students were robbed outside two west Charlotte high schools within 15 minutes Tuesday afternoon, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
Officers said a 16-year-old student was walking home from Phillip O'Berry High School when three men stole his cellphone and $10.
"I guess he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Just random," said the victim's mom.

Police said the men may be the same suspects who robbed another 16-year-old who was leaving Harding University High School 15 minutes earlier.
The back-to-back robberies put both schools, which are about a half-mile apart from one another, on lockdown.
Taylor Shelton's daughter attends Phillip O'Berry, and he said the crimes don't fit the area.
"It's shocking to me because normally, this is a good school," Shelton said.

The mother of the Phillip O'Berry student who was robbed said her family is trying to get over what happened, but her son will no longer walk home from school.
Across town in north Charlotte, police said different robbers targeted a 17-year-old waiting to pick up his younger brother from a school bus stop along Nevin Road. Investigators said the two robbers jumped the teen and took his cellphone.
No arrests have been made in any of the robberies.
