3 York Co. deputies awarded Medals of Honor for rescuing wounded officer

YORK COUNTY, S.C. — The York County sheriff awarded three of his deputies with Medals of Honor Thursday for rescuing a Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer who was shot in the line of duty.

In January, Officer Shane Page was shot while serving an arrest warrant on a robbery suspect in Fort Mill.

Lt. Chris Blevins, Master Deputy Greg Garrison and Master Deputy Jason Powell helped stop the gunman and carry Page to safety.

He has since made a full recovery.
