33-year-old man killed in hit-and-run in Gastonia, police say

GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — A 33-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run in Gastonia Thursday morning, police said.

Officers responded to the scene at around 5:50 a.m. on West Franklin Boulevard near Sante Circle.

The victim, James Marshall Nichols, was confirmed dead at the scene.

According to Gastonia Police, Nichols was walking from Kings Mountain to Gastonia when he was struck.

Police are searching for the driver of a 2005-2010 black Jeep Grand Cherokee with damage to the front of it.
