CHARLOTTE — The mysterious death of an 18-year-old Mallard Creek High School senior remains unsolved four years later.
Shania Hammonds’ body was discovered by her friend in the backyard of a home on Willow Gate Lane.
Frenetta Hammonds is still haunted by the call she got from her daughter’s friend after she found Shania’s body.
“She called me screaming and hollering and telling me Shania was dead,” Hammons said. “And I just lost it.”

The autopsy stated the cause of death is undetermined. However, detectives found evidence of a struggle in Shania’s room.
Her mother has not given up hope that there will be answers.
“I haven’t lost the faith,” Hammonds told Channel 9.
