47-year-old woman charged after deadly hit-and-run in Kannapolis

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — A 47-year-old woman was charged after Kannapolis police said she hit and killed a pedestrian before fleeing the scene.

Police arrived at 6:11 p.m. Monday at the scene on South Cannon Boulevard near Sweet Gum Street where Gloria Michelle Jackson was found dead after being hit by a vehicle.

The driver, Terrie Lynn Wright, of Salisbury, stopped, spoke to a witness, then got in her pickup truck and drove away, police said.

Later, Wright called investigators and told them her location on Goldfish Road.

She was arrested and charged with felony hit-and-run.
