• 5 of 13 leaders use tax dollars toward NYC trip

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Tuesday was the first day of a New York City tour for Charlotte city, county and school officials.

Eyewitness News has tried calling those who are on the trip to ask them if they paid for their travel or if they are using tax dollars.

Six have responded and out of the six, five, including Mayor Anthony Foxx and CMS  Superintendent Heath Morrison, are using tax money to pay for the $3,000-per-person trip.

The purpose of the trip is mainly to learn how New York recruits jobs and turns around neighborhoods. But the group will also be taking a dinner cruise on the Hudson, as well as meeting the owner of the New York Giants.
