CHARLOTTE, N.C. — 1 shot near popular diner in South End area

One person was shot near the Midnight Diner on East Carson Boulevard early Thursday morning.

The victim in the shooting, which happened around 2:45 a.m., was rushed to a local hospital for treatment.

One person has been taken in for questioning in connection with the incident.

Colder temperatures in Charlotte area

After a few days in the 70s, the Charlotte area will struggle to warm up into the 50s today under the clouds and a steady northeast breeze.

The New Orleans Hornets are set to give up their team name next season to become the New Orleans Pelicans.

This means the Hornets name could soon be up for grabs, and some people hope Charlotte will snatch it up.

Former Charlotte investment banker charged by SEC in insider trading ring

The Securities and Exchange Commission charged 10 people and two companies with insider trading.

According to the SEC, John Femenia was the ringleader.  He worked for Wells Fargo Securities in Charlotte.  The SEC says he used confidential information about four mergers and traded illegally, making him and his ring more than $11 million in the process.

CMPD: Man arrested in armed robbery of Italian restaurant

Police have arrested a man accused of tying up and robbing a restaurant manager.

The Bravo Cucina Italiana Restaurant on Northlake Mall Drive was robbed on Nov. 25, police said.
