A look at the luxury units, plush amenities at Charlotte's newest apartment communities

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Although there’s a degree of trepidation among industry watchers and developers about how much runway is left in luxury apartments, the latest multifamily developments in Charlotte show the trend remains alive and well here.

The Greater Charlotte Apartment Association, a local trade association for the multifamily industry, hosted a tour on Tuesday morning of four new apartment developments in Charlotte: Novel Stonewall Station in uptown, Arlo on West Morehead Street, Inspire in SouthPark and 511 Queens in Myers Park.

All four, which largely delivered within the last year, have differentiating characteristics but operate under a similar notion that today’s renters are attracted by top-of-the-line finishes and a large menu of on-site amenities.

But luxury housing and having a slew of community services and amenities comes at a cost — all model units shown by property associates at each community rent well above Charlotte’s current average rental rate of $1,175 for a one-bedroom unit, according to Real Data.
