STANLEY, N.C. — A worker was accidentally shot in the leg Wednesday night at the Lake Norman Quarry, officials said.
Officials said the gunfire came from an adjacent property.
A caller reported shots being fired in the area near Highway 16 at about 7:50 p.m.
The caller said it appeared that two weapons were being fired and sounded like someone was doing target practice nearby.
Authorities searched roads near the quarry to find the source of the gunfire and told Channel 9 they were talking to a person of interest.

The person who was shot was working on a crane tower at the time.
The victim was taken to a hospital.
