Annual service held for families who lost loved ones to violence

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Families who tragically lost children to violent crime came together Thursday night in memory of their loved ones.

Mothers of Murdered Offspring held their annual candlelight service a fellowship dinner.

They gathered at Little Rock AME Zion Church remembering their children and calling for an end to violence.

MOMO organizers said this is a time when the mothers need to feel loved the most.

"Unfortunately, life does go on, and we try to love them up and get them prepared to try to deal with the new normal," said Lisa Crawford, MOMO administrator.

MOMO organizers said the group is like a big family, but they'd rather not add more members.
