Pageland woman missing 2 days after argument with boyfriend

PAGELAND, S.C. — Ann Bennett, 51, hasn't been seen since Monday and her brother, Charles Bennett, told Channel 9 she was outside her home on McGregor Street having a dispute with her boyfriend, who later reported her missing.

"I just miss my sister. I love her and I want her to come home," Charles Bennett said.

Charles shares the home with his sister and her boyfriend and said they'd been together about a year.

South Carolina Law Enforcement Division agents were called in Wednesday as the Bennett's home was wrapped with crime scene tape, and considered a crime scene.

Pageland police and Chesterfield County deputies searched for Ann late Tuesday, then again Wednesday near the area of the Pageland Airport, south of town.

They searched dirt roads off Coon Creek, Guess Road and Graham Road using four-wheelers and a drone to search from the air. They even searched a swamp with waist-deep water, but found nothing.

One search was centered outside the home of the boyfriend's mother.

Nothing was found there as of late Wednesday.

Ann's sister, Theresa Livingston, became emotional talking about the search.

"It's sad,” Livingston said. “No phone call from her. We just got the call that she was missing."

Livingston said Ann has several cars and all of them are still at the house on McGregor Street.

Officials said Bennett's cellphone was last used in the middle of the day Monday, but they have not been able to find it.

Ann works at Bojangles’ in Pageland, and deputies were there Wednesday interviewing other employees.

Longtime friend Irish Rivers said Ann is a very hard worker and would never just leave on her own.

"That's just not like her, at all,” Rivers said. “I don't know what happened but I'm worried. It's upsetting and then I keep hearing that it was after her and the guy had an argument."

Pageland police have interviewed Ann's boyfriend and are still talking to other family members and close friends.

Authorities will search an area closer to Pageland on Thursday, hoping for a break in the case.
