• Bicyclist seriously hurt after being hit by cab


    CHARLOTTE, N.C. - A bicyclist had to be rushed to the hospital after being hit by a cab in southeast Charlotte overnight.

    Investigators said a man was riding his bicycle on Wendover Road, heading over Independence Boulevard just before 2 a.m.

    The impact left the bike mangled and the cab with a broken windshield and officers had to block the eastbound lanes of traffic for nearly an hour before clearing the crash site.

    Paramedics took the bicyclist to Carolinas Medical Center with life threatening injuries.

    Police don't expect to charge the cab driver.
