CHARLOTTE, N.C. - A tractor-trailer overturned and caught on fire on the Interstate 85 southbound ramp at Interstate 485, west of Charlotte, according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation.

Two of three lanes are closed on the ramp, according to the NCDOT.

The accident happened at 8:20 p.m. and the driver of the truck was transported to the hospital. They anticipate the wreck to be cleared early Wednesday morning.

The NCDOT recommends taking exit 9 at Wilkinson Boulevard to avoid the wreck.

The cause is still under investigation and it was not known Tuesday night if it was weather releated.
