Community members try to find Erica Parsons Sunday

ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. — Still no sign of Salisbury teen Erica Parsons -- she's been missing for nearly two years now. Eyewitness News has been bringing you updates on this story since she was reported missing just a few weeks ago. Community members are joining together to help find Erica.

Erica was last seen in November 2011, but now her face is being shown on billboards all over our area. Adams Outdoor Advertising told us they're proud to work with the FBI. They donated the space.

"I'm a mother of two daughters," Gale Bonnell, director of business development, said. "Just always want your children to be safe. And the fact that there's some little girl that's out there. It's heartbreaking."

There are eight of the signs in from the Lake Norman area to Charlotte to Gaston County along interstates (?) 85, 77 and 485. In total, Erica's picture will be displayed 1,350 times a day.

"Everybody has been real supportive of trying to bring her back home," Neighbor Janet Yates said.

The Parsons' neighbors have also been trying to help find Erica. They've joined community members in prayer and in attempts to help find a girl many people say they didn't know existed.

Investigators continue to ask for the public's help. They're encouraging anyone with information about Erica to come forward. Of course they're hoping the billboards will do that. And community members hope their signs and flyers with Erica's information will help investigators with leads too. There's another vigil planned for next week. Organizers are in the process of getting a permit.
