‘A blessing’: Food giveaway aims to feed over 500 families in Hickory area

HICKORY, N.C. — Families struggling to put food on the table are getting free help.

Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina is handling a food distribution at Clinton Tabernacle AME Zion Church in Hickory Monday morning.

With the help of the Air National Guard from Charlotte, the relief organization has been able to load one car after another with boxes and bags of produce and a wide selection of meats for anyone who showed up.

Second Harvest told Channel 9 they brought enough food to feed over 500 families in the Hickory area.
