Police: Breaking and entering leads to Fort Mill chase, arrests

FORT MILL, S.C. — A break-in at a Fort Mill home led to a police chase and arrests, authorities said.

Fort Mill Police Department officers were called at 5:12 a.m. Friday to a home in the Masons Bend subdivision off Sutton Road because someone saw three people trying to break into a vehicle at a home.

By the time the officers got there, the witness said the people had run off.

Minutes later, officers saw a car drive off, and they tried to stop it.

The vehicle sped away, and an officer staged by Sutton Road threw down a spike strip.

Officers chased the vehicle as it got onto Interstate 77 South, and a short distance later, the tires were completely flattened near Exit 82.

The vehicle came to a stop in the inside lane, and two people got out and leaped over the median barrier. They fled across the northbound lanes.

The three people ran off and were all caught. Another person who stayed in the car was taken into custody.

Kendall Kyleek Dow, 23, Fre Dron Kevan Te Spann, 18, and a 17-year-old male juvenile, all of Sumter, South Carolina, were taken to the Fort Mill Police Department Jail.

Dow faces several charges, including:

  • Failure to stop for blue lights & siren
  • Four counts of breaking and entering into an automobile
  • Four counts of criminal conspiracy
  • Unlawful carrying of a weapon
  • Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon

Spann:

  • Four counts of breaking and entering into an automobile
  • Four counts of criminal conspiracy

Juvenile:

  • Four counts of breaking and entering into an automobile
  • Four counts of criminal conspiracy
  • Possession of marijuana
  • Possession of Xanax
