‘Bring our community together’: Dozens march through Concord neighborhood

CONCORD, N.C. — Channel 9 was there Saturday as dozens of people marched through a Concord neighborhood.

Duke basketball star and Cox Mill graduate Wendell Moore organized the protest along with his girlfriend.

They said it was in honor of George Floyd and they wanted to take a stand in their own community.

“We are just going to keep supporting this movement and hopefully we can enforce change not only in our community but enforce change around the whole world,” Moore said.

Police officers could be seen walking and riding along with protesters to make sure everything remained peaceful. After the march, they were encouraging, telling Moore he’s setting a great example for our younger generation.

“We just wanted to come out here and bring our community together and fight for the lives that were lost to racism and police brutality all around,” Marissa Moyer said.
