BURKE COUNTY, N.C. - A Burke County home burned to the ground Thursday.
Chopper Nine Skyzoom flew over smoke billowing out of the scorched home on Piney Road around 6 p.m.
Firefighters got it under control, but the house had about $50,000 in damage. The fire department cleared the scene around 9:30 p.m.
The fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire. He said the fire appears suspicious because the home was vacant.
