Businesses offer incentives for employees to get COVID-19 vaccine

CHARLOTTE — Around 31 million Americans, or roughly 10% of the population have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

More than 9 million are fully vaccinated.

More than 970,000 people in North Carolina and 300,000 in South Carolina have gotten their first shots.

Businesses are encouraging their employees to get the vaccine now. Some employers are paying their workers to get the vaccine, including some in Charlotte.

Harris Teeter is offering a one-time payment of $100 to employees willing to get the vaccine.

Aldi, Dollar General and Trader Joe’s are also offering perks.

A human resources write and editor told Channel 9 this can be an effective practice, but some people said they don’t need that to convince them.
