Busy road near uptown closed for hours after gas line rupture

CHARLOTTE — A busy road near uptown Charlotte was shut down for hours after a gas line was cut Thursday evening.

The Charlotte Fire Department tweeted just before 4:30 p.m. that a natural gas line was cut on North Tryon and 16th streets.

It’s unclear how the line was cut.

Crews were able to make repairs overnight but North Tryon remained closed until just before 8 a.m. Friday.
