Cause under investigation after fire at Charlotte motel

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Fire investigators are working to find out what caused a fire in West Charlotte on Friday afternoon at the Queen City Motel on Wilkinson Boulevard.

Firefighters said the fire was contained to one room, but others had some smoke damage.

Eyewitness News saw one person being treated on the scene, but Medic said no one was transported to the hospital.

The man who was staying in the room did not want to talk, but a neighbor said he heard the fire alarm and quickly made sure everyone was out of their rooms.

"I heard the alarm going off, I didn't know exactly what it was. When I looked out the window I saw a whole lot of smoke, so I told my wife to call the Fire Department. I started to go over and start beating on the doors," said Reginald Herron.
