CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Days after a Charlotte mother went to police to report that her adult son was missing, his body was found in a creek.
Wednesday evening Eric Wright, 50, walked away from his Julia Avenue home that he shared with his disabled mother and never returned.
Neighbors who didn’t want to be identified told reporter Trish Wiliford that Wright had a medical condition and may have left home without his medication. They said they started searching for Wright Thursday.
“Up and down the street, you know, maybe he was at somebody’s house or something. He leaves walking and we tell him, always tell us when he’s going somewhere, so we felt like he was going to the store,” a neighbor said.

Wright’s mother called police Friday to report him missing.
Around 8 a.m. Sunday 5 miles away from Julia Avenue a jogger spotted a body in Little Sugar Creek at Alexander Park.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police crime scene investigators accompanied by the dive team rushed to the scene on East 12th Street. They later identified the remains as those of Wright.
Police told us they found no signs of trauma and don’t suspect foul play.
Neighbors say Wright’s mother is devastated by the news of his death and is wondering how he ended up the creek.
“She’s very upset, and she’s in a wheelchair, and right now she’s going through something. He was a good-hearted person, he really was,” a neighbor said.
