CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District said Renaissance West STEAM Academy in west Charlotte was placed on lockdown Wednesday for police activity in the area.
Officials said the school on New Renaissance Way was locked down around 11 a.m.
Channel 9 crews saw investigators outside the Howard Levine Child Development Center, just across the street from the school.
Sources told Channel 9 a barricaded suspect was wanted for violated supervised release and is now in custody.
No other details about the suspect or charges were released.
