CHARLOTTE — Think of it as “Survivor” on the pitch. Reality TV producer Mark Burnett, who is the chairman of MGM Television, is teaming up with Charlotte FC on a behind-the-scenes series. The program will air at an undetermined date next year and chronicle the competition for a spot on the Major League Soccer expansion club’s roster.
A source close to the project said many details are yet to be worked out, including the air date as well as the number and length of episodes. It’s a pretty solid speculative bet, though, since Burnett’s résumé includes “Shark Tank,” “The Voice” and the aforementioned “Survivor.”
Burnett and Barry Poznick, who is president of unscripted television at MGM, are executive producers. The show will be called “Welcome to the Team.”
