Charlotte leaders to vote on purchasing bulletproof vests for Charlotte Fire Department

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte leaders are considering buying bulletproof vests for the Charlotte Fire Department.

During its meeting on Monday, the City Council will vote on contracts for vests, bulletproof plates, helmets and face shields.

The Fire Department requested the equipment because of a spike in active shooter situations.

The equipment would cost $525,000 per year.
