Charlotte restaurateurs react after murder of Brooks' Sandwich House co-owner

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The murder of longtime Brooks’ Sandwich House co-owner Scott Brooks left Charlotte’s restaurant community reeling on Monday.

“They’re one of the iconic restaurants,” says Frank Scibelli, owner of FS Food Group. “It’s really heartbreaking.”

Fellow NoDa restaurants Haberdish and Crepe Cellar posted messages of support on Facebook. Jamie Brown, who owns those venues with husband Jeff Tonidandel, shared her own heartfelt thoughts with the Charlotte Business Journal.

“The whole story is just heart-wrenching,” she says. “I’m so sad for his family. I’m sad for his brother. I’m sad for Charlotte.”

And, with four restaurants in NoDa, the day raised concerns about their own 90 employees and finding ways to keep them safe and rise above in the face of fear.
