CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The PGA Tour has unveiled its significantly revamped schedule for the 2018-19 season, leaving Charlotte unscathed. The Wells Fargo Championship will be played April 29 through May 5 at Quail Hollow Club — the same week the annual tournament is typically played here.
However, the future of the event beyond next year remains in question.
Wells Fargo & Co. is expected to decide this summer whether to extend its title sponsorship of the tournament beyond its expiration in 2019.
The PGA says in a news release that the revamp is an “exciting change for players and fans as they are able to engage in – and better follow – a cadence of events highlighted by significant championships every month and culminating with the FedExCup Playoffs in August.”
