• Chester councilman charged with threatening police chief


    CHESTER COUNTY, S.C. - Chester City Councilman Odell Williams has been charged with making threats against the town's police chief and another officer, according to a South Carolina Law Enforcement Division release.

    According to a warrant, Williams threatened Major Gene Gilmore and Chief Andre Williams after a town council meeting earlier this month.

    According to the warrant, Williams used racial slurs against the two men and threatened to "take them out" while in the restroom at Chester City Hall.

    The Chester Police Department had asked SLED to investigate the threats.
