Chester County Sheriff’s Office gets creative on Valentine’s Day Facebook post

CHESTER COUNTY, S.C. — The Chester County Sheriff’s Office got creative this Valentine’s Day to encourage the public to provide tips on criminals in the area and its social media efforts have gone viral.

“Valentine’s Day is almost here,” the department’s Facebook post begins. “Do you have an ex who you know commits crime or has an outstanding warrant? Give us a call to enter them into our FREE Valentines and Crimes Sweepstakes!”

“Winners” would get a “vacation at the 5-star Chester County Detention Center Resort,” the parody post read.

A photo of the grounds of the jail was also posted as an image decorated with a rainbow, hearts and beach gear.

The sheriff’s office promises that winners will have an “all-inclusive” stay overnight in jail, will get special bracelets (handcuffs) and will be personally escorted by police to their “destination.” Their stay will also include a “professional photoshoot” (mug shot) and their reaction will be posted online for all to see. The “penthouse suite” comes “complete with four walls, a toilet and a bed.”

There will be three meals with “top-notch room service” and recreation included, the post boasts.

“Act fast and your ex will also receive an exclusive orange jumpsuit on us!” the sheriff’s office posted.

The post got some positive feedback in the comments.

“OK this just about made me choke on my drink,” someone wrote on the Facebook page.

“Awesome job,” someone else posted in the comments. “Hope you can give (a lot) of people free room and food in Chester County. Hurry you all to the best rooms in town.”
