Child death investigation underway in Lancaster

LANCASTER, S.C. — A child death investigation is underway in Lancaster.

According to police, officers responded around 9:45 p.m. Monday to a call about an unconscious child at a home on Pardue Street.

When they got there, officers said they found a 1-year-old child unconscious and not breathing. Officers said aid was rendered at the home before the child was taken to MUSC Health-Lancaster. The child was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The child’s death is under investigation by the Lancaster Police Department, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office.
