CLEVELAND COUNTY, N.C. — Cleveland Community College was on lockdown after officials were made aware of a threat made against a student.
The school learned of the threat just before 2 p.m. Tuesday. Officials said they immediately notified law enforcement and put a lockdown in place.
The lockdown was put in effect for the entire campus, meaning no one could enter or leave.
Later Tuesday afternoon, the school posted on its Facebook page that the situation was resolved and the campus was cleared.
The Cleveland County Sheriff's Office confirmed to the school that the suspect was never on campus and was taken into custody in Lincoln County.
"The Sheriff's office has determined that the campus is secure, and the College has resumed its regular operating schedule. We are immensely grateful to the Cleveland County Sheriff's office and other first responders for their prompt, coordinated response. We thank the public for their support and prayers," the school said in a statement.
