Clinical trial in Charlotte could help patients recover faster from COVID-19

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A clinical trial right here in Charlotte could help patients recover from COVID-19 faster.

Novant is only the second hospital system in the country approved to study the drug Leron-Limab.

“It is under investigation for a number of years for HIV and for other diseases, as well. Now it will be studied with coronavirus,” said Dr. Skarbnik, Novant Health hematologist.

Seventy-five patients nationwide will participate and a COVID-19 patient being treated at Novant can ask their doctor if they could be a candidate.
