CLT gains a flight as Mississippi airport relaunches service

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The airport in Tunica, Miss., is bringing back regularly scheduled air service, with flights to Atlanta, Charlotte, and Orlando and Tampa/St. Petersburg, Fla.

The last time Tunica — situated about 40 miles south of Memphis, Tenn., along U.S. Highway 61 — had similar air service was 2011. That year, the city offered AirTran Airways flights to Atlanta as well as Vision Air service to Destin, Fla.

Florida-based Ashley Air and Travel will begin to offer the flights July 1.

The charter airline and membership club is also offering an introductory $599 annual membership plan, which includes unlimited travel on all routes served by Ashley for $39 each way. Taxes and additional fees are not included.
