• CMPD: Man wearing ankle monitor shot dead in north Charlotte

    CHARLOTTE, N.C. - A man was shot and killed Wednesday night on North Pine Street in north Charlotte, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Chief Rodney Monroe.

    The victim was taken to the hospital where he died and police are looking for the shooter.

    He said the victim was wearing a monitoring device on his ankle, Monroe said.

    The victim was identified as 25-year-old Matthew Ryan Wood.

    A witness said, "We heard the gunshots. Seen a lot of kids running and the next thing we know, we seen a white Camaro go up the street."
