CMPD: Man shot in west Charlotte, rushed to hospital

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police said a man was shot and rushed to the hospital Thursday after a drive-by shooting in west Charlotte.

"This is really scary. I don't even know if I want to stay at my house tonight," said Shonta Hall.

She was at work when a friend called to say her house had been shot at.

Police believe a man was walking on Reid Park Lane in front of her house when two people in a car drove by and opened fire.

Hall said her nephew and his infant son were at the house at the time of the shooting. He grabbed his baby, ran out of the house and saw a complete stranger driving down the street.

That man drove him to a relative's house.

The nephew didn't want to talk on camera.

Police said the victim was stable Thursday.

They believe he knew the shooter who was still on the loose.
