CMPD: 2 elderly people found dead in murder-suicide

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's detectives are conducting a death investigation that occurred in the 4200 block of Myers Hunter Lane in the South Division. 
 
The call for service came in at 1:22 p.m. Thursday. 
 
South Division patrol officers responded to the 4200 block of Myers Hunter Lane in reference to two elderly people suffering from gunshot wounds that the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office had found inside of a house. 
 
Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office told officers they were attempting to serve an eviction notice at the home and located two people who had been shot inside of the residence. 
 
A man was pronounced dead on scene.  A woman suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to Carolinas Medical Center by Medic where she was pronounced dead a short time later.  The victims' names have not been released yet.
 
The preliminary investigation indicates that the man and woman are husband and wife.  The case is being investigated as a murder-suicide.
