CMPD: 2 hospitalized in separate overnight shootings

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police detectives were busy investigating two separate overnight shootings Thursday morning.

Officers said a robber shot a man at a home on Melbourne Court in South End just before 3 a.m.

That victim is expected to survive.

Police used a K-9 to search for clues, but have not been able to find the shooter.

Meanwhile, in north Charlotte, officers said a family argument ended with one man being shot in the abdomen.

That shooting happened around 1 a.m. on Dawnshire Avenue, near Beatties Ford Road and Interstate 85.

The victim is expected to survive and police have a suspect in custody.
