• CMPD arrests 19-year-old in connection with fatal shooting


    CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Officers with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department arrested and charged a man in connection with a fatal shooting Wednesday.

    Police arrested Miguel Angel Zelaya, 19, and charged him with murder in the death of Jose Orlando Ibarra.

    Zelaya was arrested on Lakemist Drive on Friday morning for an unrelated robbery warrant. He was then interviewed by detectives. He was charged with murder, discharging firearm into an occupied property causing serious bodily injury and two counts of attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon.
