CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have arrested a man and charged him in the city's first murder of 2014.
Detectives say 23-year-old Montarious Dawson voluntarily came to police headquaters Monday night where he was interviewed by detectives.
After speaking with police, Dawson was charged with murder, accused of killing 46-year-old Keith Graham on January 20.
Police accuse Dawson of shooting and killing Graham on Dundeen Street just after 6 p.m. that day.
When police responded to the call, they found Graham inside a residence suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to Carolinas Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Dawson has been transported to the Mecklenburg County jail and has a court appearance Tuesday.
