• CMPD investigates shooting in North Charlotte

    CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Charlotte Mecklenburg Police spent much of the night investigating a shooting in North Charlotte Thursday.

    It happened just after 7 p.m. in the 5200 block of Wayside Court. Police said they found a man shot in the chest. He was taken to the hospital and MEDIC told Eyewitness News that the man's injuries were life threatening.

    Police didn't immediately release the victim's name.

    Investigators said everything started during a family gathering. They said an argument happened and somehow led to the shooting.

    Officials said the suspect took off before police got there. They haven't released the suspect's name just yet.

    Eyewitness News is working to learn more information about the victim and the incident.
