Police ID victim in north Charlotte homicide

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have a suspect in custody after a man was shot to death in north Charlotte late Tuesday night.
 
Officers were called to Rumple Road in the Derita area around 10 p.m. but could not find the victim, 45-year-old David Lee Shaw.

Police later discovered that a friend of Shaw's took him to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Officers on the scene said they found the shooter walking out of the woods and arrested him.

Investigators have not released the suspect's name and said this was not a random attack.
