Police looking for man in stabbing at light rail station

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man was stabbed Tuesday afternoon on a the Archdale light rail platform in south Charlotte and was taken to Carolinas Medical Center, police said.

Witnesses said they saw the victim run down the stairs of the upper platform at the LYNX station at Archdale Drive and and Old Pineville Road.

The suspect is described as a black male with a beard, wearing a black sweatshirt with a yellow zip-up jacket underneath, blue jeans, and white sneakers, police said.  The suspect may also walk with a slight limp.  This suspect was last seen getting off of the light rail at the Scalybark station.

Since Jan. 1, there were six violent crimes including aggravated assault and armed robbery that happened within a 1-mile radius of the light rail station.

CMPD questioned a man about the robbery, but so far, no one has been charged.
