CMPD officer charged with DWI, child abuse

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer will face a judge in three weeks on several charges, including DWI.

North Carolina state troopers arrested Reginald Richardson in May.

He works now in a paid administrative position with the department, but he used to work as a school resource officer at Turning Point Alternative.

He's also charged with misdemeanor child abuse and failure to restrain a child under 16.
