CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Channel 9 uncovered another incident of violence involving Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools students and this time with teenagers from South Mecklenburg High School.
A 16-year-old student held up a 15-year-old classmate inside the bathroom of the McDonald's at about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Quail Corners off of Park Road, according to police report.
The victim wasn't hurt.
Police arrested and charged him Malcolm Townsend with robbery.
Parents who shop at Quail Corners were surprised to hear about the incident.
“I don't know what goes through their minds,” David Hopson said. “I don't think they think about consequences.”
The McDonald’s at Quail Corners has been the center of controversy since 201 after some residents and parents said they didn’t want it built at that location.
They were concerned students would run across the busy, six-lane road.
