CMPD: Woman hit in head, leg after shots fired into house

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A woman was shot in the head and leg Wednesday in west Charlotte, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Police said the woman was hit when shots were fired into a house.

The incident was reported around 8:30 p.m. on Brentwood Place.

A neighbor called the incident a "drive-by shooting." Police have not said if they are looking for a suspect. They did find 27 shell casings outside of the house.

Police said the injuries did not appear to be life-threatening. Medic said they transported a women to Carolinas Medical Center - Main with serious injuries.
