Community rallies to give food, supplies to local vets on Veterans Day

CHARLOTTE — Veterans served to protect our country, and now the Charlotte community is rallying to serve them.

Volunteers from the Independence Fund packed boxes Wednesday with food and supplies to distribute to 100 veterans across the Charlotte area.

The organization works with injured veterans, many of whom are unemployed or homeless.

The majority of the volunteers are veterans themselves, offering their time to neighbors in need.
