CHARLOTTE — Thousands of people across our area have weighed in on what they want to see done to get around Charlotte easier without getting on Interstate 77.
The Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization released a survey last month called Beyond 77.
The goal is to improve the commute from Statesville to Rock Hill with other transportation options.
About 14,000 responses have been submitted:
- 45% said connecting major roads that border i-77 would allow them to use it less
- 68% said they would use the light rail
- 55% said they would like to see more bus stops, bike lanes and pedestrian lanes
